Description

Attack of the Shidas (Storymoja) is a science fiction novel designed for children aged 11–15 years (Grade 6 to 8). The story is set in a desert town in the far north, where three different communities depend on a single borehole for their water supply. However, the water mysteriously begins to disappear at night, leading to rising tension as each community accuses the others of stealing. This creates fear, mistrust, and the threat of conflict among the communities.

As the situation worsens, three young characters—Tosha, Shana, and Pato—discover that they possess special powers. Their discovery marks the beginning of an exciting and dangerous mission to uncover the truth behind the disappearing water. The children must work together to stop the unknown forces draining the borehole before the situation escalates into violence and war. Through their journey, they learn the importance of unity, courage, and cooperation in solving community problems.

The story explores important themes such as ethnic tolerance, equality, non-discrimination, and peaceful coexistence. It encourages readers to reflect on the consequences of mistrust and division, while promoting values of teamwork and understanding. Blending science fiction with real-life social issues, the book helps learners think critically about conflict resolution and community responsibility.
